Awards for My Writing

I write literary nonfiction that explores memory, identity, and place. My debut book, Narrow Waters, is currently querying agents. I’m thrilled to have received the 2024 Creative Future Writers Award and been shortlisted for the 2023 Writers & Artists Working-Class Writers’ Prize. My essay ‘Mothergod’ will be published in The Belfast Review in July 2025.

Other achievements include:

  • Winner of the Women’s Words Manchester prize | 2018

  • Longlisted for the Fish Publishing Memoir Prize | 2015

Narrow Waters

Narrow Waters is my first full-length manuscript, a powerful work of literary nonfiction that weaves identity, nature, and transformation into a lyrical exploration of midlife.

Deeply personal yet achingly universal, Narrow Waters is a meditation on place, memory, and the search for home in the difficult hinterland of midlife.

Narrow Waters is under consideration with several UK agents, but I am always open to new conversations.

Get in touch to talk about representing me.

A dispatch: from the drift of my thoughts in summer

Last month, I sent you a letter from midsummer, and mid-everything else.

This month, it’s a dispatch from the drift; my thoughts fragmented in the heat, like bladderwrack taken apart by the tide.

Narrow Waters Substack

Once or twice a month, I send notes from my writing desk, sharing short essays, notes from the writing life, and fragments of my books-in-progress.

No sales, only stories.
