I am Ciara McVeigh, a business writer with over ten years of experience in digital content.

About

Formerly the Head of Content for a Manchester-based creative agency, I have spent the last ten years establishing voices for brands and businesses. My content has led to my clients being featured in Fortune, the Financial Times and TechCrunch.

I’ve worked with primarily tech startups, but also with professional services, as well as organisations in the hospitality, legal and public sectors.

I’ve helped CEOs, MDs and directors secure investment, win awards and grow their teams - all by articulating their vision and sharing their message with exceptional content.

Now I want to share that big experience with small businesses and agencies.

My mission is to put meaning back into marketing, help people to tell the story of their business to win the hearts and minds of the ever-changing customer. I want to encourage us all to put authenticity at the heart of everything we produce.

Why ‘Cara’ Content?

Cara’ is an old Irish word for ‘friend’ and speaks to the warmth and humanity that I believe we need to bring to our work as marketers. Sincerity and friendship are fundamental to my most successful client relationships.

If you agree, we should work together.

I’m also a born creative writer, focusing on children’s stories and verse, and memoir and life writing.

To date, I’ve been:

Long listed for the Fish Publishing Short Memoir Prize.

Published in the The Suffragette magazine reimagined for 2018 as part of the Manchester suffragette centenary year, winning a writing competition led by the Pankhurst Centre.

Approached to join BBC Radio Manchester’s 100 Women 100 Years initiative, taking part in projects and events across the city of Manchester, with my winning story broadcast on the breakfast show.

My work also appeared in the audio story project 100 Voices for 100 Years, where 100 female writers shared their personal stories of achievement, which is now being made into a book.

‘Night Walks’, one of my first memoir pieces, was published on the UK’s leading site for creative nonfiction, The Real Story.

I’m currently working on:

A collection of silly verse for children, ‘Bellybottom and Other Poems’.

A series of picture books based on an imaginative preschooler, called Doddle.

My first collection of memoir/life writing pieces, entitled ‘Night Walks’.

I’m available for literary representation! Do get in touch if you’re interested in learning more.
